My priority is the integrity of your material; if I determine that I cannot proceed with the project after a physical inspection, I will return the wood to you at my own expense. I will never "sacrifice" or risk your sentimental material just for the sake of an attempt—if I don't genuinely believe I can achieve a beautiful result, I will tell you so directly.

Because of this, the project may need to be adapted or even canceled if the material proves unstable. Sentimental Elm Bowl

This piece began as a mature Elm tree, planted by the homeowners the very year they moved into their house decades ago. When the tree was damaged in an ice storm, we preserved its history by turning it into an elegant bowl. I was able to retain a portion of the natural live edge, serving as a raw, organic reminder of the tree as it stood in their yard for all those years. It is now a functional centerpiece that keeps the spirit of their first home alive.

Pine Cone Pen Holder

Capturing the small details of a childhood home can be just as meaningful as the large ones. This pen holder was created using a single pine cone gathered from a yard where the customer’s children grew up. By casting the cone in epoxy before turning it on the lathe, we were able to reveal the intricate, honeycomb-like geometry of the cone’s exterior. It is a tactile piece of the past that now sits on a desk, holding tools for the future.

Grandmother's Flooring Pen

These personalized pens hold a history dating back to 1951. They were precision-turned from the original hardwood flooring of a customer’s grandmother’s home. To make the connection even more personal, I engraved each pen with the names of different family members. Now, a piece of the foundation they all walked upon has been transformed into a set of writing instruments, allowing the family to carry a piece of their matriarch’s home with them wherever they go. To protect the customers privacy, their first and last names are not visible.

The Farmstead Heritage Bat

Crafted from timber sourced directly from a multi-generational family farm, this custom youth baseball bat was made for the customer’s son. To add character and highlight the wood's natural grain, I used a torching technique to lightly char and discolor the surface before sealing it. The result is a rugged, "battle-worn" aesthetic that honors the hard-working history of the land it came from, making it a powerful heirloom for the next generation.
